The iTunes version of Cruel Summer has some very noticeable mix and master changes some are better, and some are worse. Watch The Throne and Cruel Summer sound okay, nothing really special. Probably not much better if any than the CD however. There's an unofficial vinyl, which I hear sounds pretty good for a bootleg. I personally like the CD version the most in terms of mixing/mastering.Įveryone claims that the iTunes NA version sounds better when the differences are so slight (asides from some noticeable mix changes) that they probably don't even notice them on their cheap headphones. Ye's loudest album yet, but something about it fits the album very well, like as if it wouldn't be the same without the loudness. The vinyl is good to have to collect packaging is nice, but the sound isn't much better than the CD apparently. I would recommend the unmastered version if you can find it. Very hot sound, but I don't like it at all, like LR it would have favoured a cleaner sound. Ye's worst sounding album, but you can tell it was artistically done, same as 808s. The vinyl is apparently pretty good, but expensive AF. This is where Ye started going for more of a Lo-fi/distorted sound, I like it, but sometimes I wonder if it would have favoured a cleaner/colder sound more? There aren't any versions that sound better and there isn't an official vinyl release. It's Ye's best album in terms of mixing/mastering (very clean sound, goes well with the album) The vinyl is infamous for being a bad press and you need a cartridge 400$+ in order to get rid of the sibilance that it is ridden with. The album is mixed good like all Ye albums, but the mastering is hit or miss, it's pretty hot and would have favoured a cleaner sound much more. There aren't any special versions that have a better sound. White cover is better in terms of sound, but everyone likes the look of the brown cover more. There are two versions though, the original with the brown cover, and then the remaster with the white cover which has some slight mix changes and slight mastering changes. Just whether or not to get FLAC? or which versions? Click to expand.Sorry you couldn't find any help.
